We are a dynamic fast-growing landscape maintenance/snow removal company is looking for a results-driven Customer Services Jr Sales Rep who is passionate about taking an already thriving mega branch to new levels of aggressive growth. MAJOR OBJECTIVES: The main objectives of the Tree Care Intern position is to provide hands-on, real life experience working side by side with our team of tree department employees; drawing upon the intern’s classroom knowledge. The Tree Care Internship is an opportunity to introduce career-oriented students to exceptional opportunities in the tree care industry. The Tree Care Intern will be assigned a manager who will mentor them through a variety of job expectations within the landscape industry within the scope of a learning/on-the-job internship experience. The Tree Care Intern program focuses on hands-on experience and includes fieldwork experience in a commercial landscape contracting operation. Internships can be customized to individual needs and interests, and field experience will include working with the field crews and production operations. The Tree Intern will maintain a positive image for Acres in the field and in the industry. Responsibilities: OVERVIEW OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM – TREE INTERN Interns report directly to a Tree Care Manager, but may do work for multiple Account Managers, Production Managers as well as the Tree Care Sales Arborist within the Tree Department. Tasks may change daily, but interns will expect about 85% field work and 15% corporate/office-based tasks. Generally, internships are conducted between May 15th and August 15th, but can be arranged at other times to accommodate school and/or student’s schedules. This is a full-time work experience and hours will vary depending upon work demands. Interns are paid weekly at an hourly rate. Overtime is paid at the rate of time-and-a-half as applicable, with a general 40-hour workweek. We make a solid commitment to provide a meaningful internship experience. It is necessary for the intern to make the same commitment for the experience to be successful. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Work alongside Acres Group’s tree crews to observe, train and perform tasks for proper pruning, debris removal (i.e. brush, branches, logs, etc.). Learn the equipment and safety procedures to ensure compliance with ANSI standards. Ensure overall quality and safety of work is done through property evaluations, spot site inspections, pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and periodic infield site safety inspections. Provide suggestions and assist in implementing solutions in conjunction with the work being performed on site, with a goal of continuous improvement of industry and A.N.S.I. standards. Prune trees according to ANSI pruning standards. Climb trees for pruning and removal while maintaining the ANSI safety standards. Participate in weekly crew meetings. Assist crew leader with the day to day operations. Opportunity for inspections including visiting sites to check production, property walks with Account Managers, marking areas for attention per work orders and/or account reps, tree counts, etc. Opportunity for estimating and bidding, design work, quality control, and proposal work. Attend miscellaneous functions: facility meetings, department meetings, safety committee meetings, tailgate safety trainings, various trainings that might be scheduled during the internship such as defensive driving, monthly educational field trips and scheduled intern social events. Qualifications: REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Must have enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture. Positive attitude and willingness to learn. Demonstrated ability to report for work regularly and punctually with a strong work ethic. Collaboration and communication skills. Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish to safely perform work procedures. The ability to withstand extended exposure to various weather conditions. The ability to dismantle trees in a controlled manner while working with a team. The ability to lift 50 lbs. independently or 125 lbs. team lift. PREREQUISITES College education/certification in the areas of Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Plant and Soil Science, Landscape Architecture/Design/and/or Management, Business Administration, or related fields. Plant ID skills, knowledge, or exposure is valuable. A valid Driver’s license and good MVR.
