Main area Respiratory Medicine Grade NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant Contract Permanent Hours Full time: 10 PA's Job ref 409-2318633 Site Prescot Town Prescot Salary £79,860 - £107,668 per annum (YM72) Closing 19/04/2020 23:59 Interview date 18/05/2020 We are looking for a full-time Consultant Physician in Respiratory Medicine. The successful applicant will continue the development of acute and respiratory services for the Trust. The appointee will participate in elective and non-elective clinical activity for the department to support the service. The respiratory department has a total of 66 inpatient beds on two wards, 2B and 2C. The consultant appointed to this post will deliver daily sessions of care to respiratory inpatients on the respiratory wards in conjunction with two, weekly, outpatient clinics, as well as bronchoscopy services. The entire Consultant Respiratory team has move to this model of care, with separate inpatient/outpatient periods on a rotating basis. This innovation has promoted ambulatory care for patients with respiratory disease, improved the quality of inpatient care, reduced length of stay, and forged more cohesive day to day working relationships between the AMU staff and respiratory teams. In the Respiratory department model of care seven full time Respiratory Consultants are available Monday-Friday to provide inpatient and outpatient care, and eight Consultants are available for the weekend commitment. On average the Respiratory department manages 2800 inpatients per year, provides 8200 out patient appointments (including nurse led services). New to follow up ratio currently stands at 1:2 as supported by the national HED data. All Respiratory Physicians within the department adhere to the same manageable general Respiratory clinic outpatient template of 2 new patients and 10 review patients per clinic. Additional manageable templates are provided for the SpR trainees depending on year of training. This balances the overall workload. This post will be subject to an enhanced adults and children DBS. Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment.
