Main area Anaesthetics Grade NHS Medical & Dental: Specialty Doctor Contract Fixed for 6 months Hours 10 PAs Job ref 409-2222467 Site Whiston Town Prescot Salary £40,037 - £74,661 per annum (MC46) Closing Today at 23:59 The appointee will provide anaesthetic services for St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals (NHS) Trust. The principle duties will be to provide anaesthetic services for emergency cover, on a full shift residential “On Call” rota involving general and obstetric duties within the Trust. Previous Anaesthetic experience essential (previous experience in obstetric anaesthesia is desirable but not essential). The obstetric anaesthetic duties will include anaesthetic services to the Delivery Suite including epidural analgesia and regional anaesthesia for caesarean sections. Applicants must be eligible for limited registration for non-training posts. The Department provides anaesthetic services for elective surgery in: General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Burns Surgery, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery and Gynaecology. It also provides emergency anaesthetic cover for these services on a 24 – hour basis. There are presently 14 orthopaedic trauma lists, 10 daytime plastic surgery trauma lists, and 10 daytime sessions available primarily for urgent general surgical and emergency cases. There are also all day orthopaedic trauma lists on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. The Department also provides a 24 – hour epidural service for analgesia during labour, and a 24 – hour anaesthetic service for obstetric emergencies including caesarean sections. Additional functions of the Department include the running of a Consultant based Chronic Pain Service, an Acute Pain Service, support for the major trauma team, and ad hoc assistance to the Critical Care Unit when requested. This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
