Essential Duties & Responsibilities: As a dedicated member of the Advanced Technology organization, the Technology Lead Intern will: Assist in conducting technical scouting for innovation as it pertains to Phase 0 technology portfolio/roadmap 3-7 years out or beyond. Assist in the demonstration of bench, clinical, and commercial feasibility of new technologies. Identify, quantify, & drive down risks and barriers associated with next generation technologies & system architectures. Assist the theoretical analysis and performance simulations of product designs. Capture design solutions using CAD tools. Utilize root cause investigation methodologies to de-bug and solve functional performance challenges. Design, set-up and perform electrical, mechanical or related experiments in the lab Generate 3D models and drawings; Build and evaluate prototypes; Work with vendors and outside service partners as directed. Assist in the Development of test plans, protocols and reports to document concept and feasibility activities. Under guidance, plan, manage and prioritize tasks/projects, tracks progress toward project goals, and provides periodic updates to team Support the execution of Feasibility Studies with Clinical and UX teams Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Basic experience in the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (SolidWorks preferred) to communicate product ideas and technical solutions, or relevant coursework. Basic exposure or familiarity with high volume manufacturing, or relevant coursework. Basic exposure to principles of GD&T, DFM, DFA, & DMAIC, or relevant coursework. Ability to run projects and maintain timelines with minimal supervision. Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data to generate insights and conclusions Ability to deal with ambiguity/uncertainty and a willingness to try new/challenging things. Ability to work hands-on and independently in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products Preferred Qualifications: Previous exposure or involvement in Medical Device product and/or technology development a plus. Previous exposure or involvement in the design and development of small electromechanical systems for high volume (10M+/year) production a plus. Previous exposure or involvement in the development of high volume manufacturing processes for miniature electromechanical assemblies a plus. Coursework or previous internship experience in one or more of the following technology spaces (Design principals of): plastic components, sheet-metal stampings, die cutting, machining, basic circuits, electronics packaging. Basic exposure to the use of engineering analysis (ex. MatchCAD, Matlab, FEA) and statistical analysis tools (ex. Minitab, JMP), or relevant coursework Experience and Education Requirements: Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience and a High school diploma/certificate or equivalent.
